First Time.
Full Send.
Never been on a side-by-side? Good. Everyone starts somewhere. Here's what to know so your first day is a great story, not a cautionary one.
Easier than you think.
More fun than you expect.
A side-by-side UTV has a steering wheel. If you can drive a car, you can drive a UTV within the first 10 minutes. They're stable, forgiving, and intuitive in a way that solo ATVs aren't for beginners. The main adjustment is reading terrain at lower speeds — picking your line before you reach the obstacle, not while you're on top of it. Our walkthrough at pickup covers all of this in a controlled environment before you leave the lot.
Pack for the mountain,
not the parking lot.
- Layers — it’s cold at elevation in the morning
- Closed-toe shoes (required)
- Sunscreen — UV exposure doubles above 8,000 ft
- Water — more than you think you need
- Snacks for sustained energy
- Fully charged phone with offline maps
Make it boring on purpose.
Then open it up.
"The best first-day riders start slow intentionally. Get the feel for the machine before you commit to anything ambitious. After an hour you’ll know exactly what it can do — and so will you."
The riders who rush the learning curve are the ones who have the bad days. The ones who spend the first 45 minutes getting comfortable have great stories by afternoon. We’ve watched this pattern thousands of times. Trust the process.
